Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester City

Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League showdown with Manchester City.

Liverpool will look to retain their lead in the Premier League table when they face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Although the home side possess a game in hand on the defending champions, Liverpool hold a five-point cushion over their next opponents.

However, despite their strong recent form in the top flight and the Champions League, Jurgen Klopp continues to see a number of his star men spend time in the treatment room.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension list ahead of the contest.

Virgil van Dijk

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Van Dijk is likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious ACL injury during the Merseyside derby against Everton last month. The Dutchman has now undergone successful surgery on the problem, but faces a long road to recovery.

Fabinho

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: November 21 (vs. Leicester City)

With a hamstring injury already resulting in his omission from the latest Brazil squad, Fabinho is highly unlikely to return for this fixture. However, Klopp has suggested that a comeback could occur after the international break.

Thiago Alcantara

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: November 21 (vs. Leicester)

Thiago has not made an appearance for the Merseyside giants since picking up a knee injury in the derby against Everton last month. Although the Spaniard has avoided surgery on the injury, he will not be considered for selection until after the international break.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Still to make an appearance since sustaining a knee injury during pre-season, Oxlade-Chamberlain will not come into contention for this match, instead focusing his attention on a return after the international break.

Liverpool have no players suspended for the trip to Manchester.
