PFA offers to help resolve Riyad Mahrez, Leicester City standoff

Leicester City are offered a helping hand by the Professional Footballers' Association, who are willing to step in and mediate in the standoff with Riyad Mahrez.

The Professional Footballers' Association has confirmed that it is willing to step in and mediate between Riyad Mahrez and Leicester City.

Mahrez has been absent for training for the past week after missing out on a move to Manchester City on deadline day - the second time that he has tried and failed to push through a transfer over the past six months.

PFA chiefs are continuing to monitor the situation but, according to Sky Sports News, Leicester are yet to take up the option of involving a third party in the ongoing standoff.

The Algeria international has also missed the Foxes' last two matches and is almost certain to sit out this weekend's meeting with Man City at the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking earlier this week, City boss Claude Puel admitted that the situation regarding Mahrez remains delicate.
