Kevin Phillips: 'Leicester City looking strong'

Leicester City coach Kevin Phillips says that the players have adapted well to life under new manager Claudio Ranieri.

Leicester City first-team coach Kevin Phillips has suggested that the team are responding well to the methods of new manager Claudio Ranieri.

The 42-year-old former Foxes striker was retained on the club's staff when the Italian succeeded Nigel Pearson in the hotseat over the summer.

Phillips has said that he has been impressed with the work that Ranieri has done so far at the King Power Stadium.

"There's a lot of confidence around the camp now, a good team spirit and, with the new signings we made over the summer, we look a strong squad," he told Sky Sports News.

"I'd never met Claudio before but, as he appears on TV, he can be very funny. However, when it's time to get down to work, he becomes very serious and he wants his players to give 100% in whatever they do, listen and take on the experience he's picked up over the years. And the players are responding to that.

"He's obviously got vast experience with the teams he's worked with and trophies he's won and hopefully that can help us this season."

Leicester sit third in the Premier League after taking eight points from their opening four games.
