Juventus 'pessimistic over Luis Suarez deal'

Juventus are reportedly 'pessimistic' over their chances of signing Barcelona striker Luis Suarez.

The Uruguay international is surplus to requirements at Camp Nou this summer and has been strongly linked with a move to the Italian champions over the last few weeks.

However, according to Goal, a move to Turin could fall through due to a delayed process in securing Italian citizenship, with the Serie A champions believing that it will be difficult to obtain the required passport in the required timeframe.

The 33-year-old will need an Italian passport in order to represent Andrea Pirlo's side as their quota for foreign players has already been filled ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Suarez, who could be banished to the stands at Barca this season if he does not leave, scored 21 times and registered 12 assists in 36 appearances at club level last term despite some injury issues.

The South American's existing deal with Ronald Koeman's side is due to expire next June, although a 12-month extension would be triggered if he plays in 60% of games this term.
