Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon has insisted that his side have still enjoyed a "magnificent" season despite failing to clinch the treble in the Champions League final this evening.
Having already wrapped up the Serie A and Coppa Italia crowns, Juventus were beaten 3-1 by Barcelona in Berlin tonight as Luis Enrique's side won a treble of their own.
Juve equalised 10 minutes into the second half and had Barca on the back foot in the immediate aftermath of Alvaro Morata's goal, but subsequent strikes from Luis Suarez and Neymar condemned the Old Lady to a record sixth defeat in the final.
"There are moments of intense joy and then there are moments of disappointment. That's what sport is all about; you just have to accept it," Buffon told the club's official website.
"We've lost tonight but we've had a magnificent year and enjoyed incredible success with our fans. I must admit that for a few minutes I really thought we were going to do it."
The Champions League remains one of the few major trophies that Buffon is yet to win in his illustrious career.
