Hull City vs. Norwich - prediction, team news, lineups

Despite failing to win their last two matches, Hull City have the chance to clinch back-to-back victories when they play host to Norwich City on Saturday.

The visitors are still searching for their first league win of the season after picking up a point from their opening two Championship games.

Match preview

Hull City opened the campaign with a 2-1 win over Bristol City before playing out a goalless draw with Preston North End last weekend.

Although their opening two league games have yielded four points, the Tigers lost for the first team this season in the EFL Cup on Tuesday.

Hull took the lead against League Two Bradford City courtesy of a Harry Lewis own goal, but they were pegged back by a 39th-minute equaliser from Andy Cook.

The Bradford forward completed the first-half turnaround five minutes later, grabbing a second goal for himself and his side, and it proved enough to condemn Hull to a 2-1 first-round defeat.

After being eliminated from the EFL Cup, Hull will now turn their attention to Saturday's contest where they have the chance to extend an unbeaten home league run - which has carried over from last season - to six matches.

Norwich, meanwhile, have struggled in their opening two league matches after being relegated from the Premier League last season.

The promotion hopefuls began their campaign with a 1-0 away defeat to Cardiff City, before playing host to Wigan Athletic last weekend.

After falling behind, Max Aarons equalised in the second half to ensure that his side collected their first point of the season ahead of their midweek encounter against Birmingham City in the EFL Cup.

Although Danel Sinani and Jacob Sorensen gave the Canaries a two-goal lead against Birmingham, the contest was decided on penalties after a second-half strike from Jonathan Leko was followed by a Jonathan Tomkinson own goal.

Dean Smith's side managed to prevail 4-2 in the shootout, and they will aim to use the confidence gained from their EFL Cup triumph to clinch their first victory in league action since a 2-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on April 10.

Team News

Hull are still expected to be without the services of Brandon Fleming, Dogukan Sinik, Nathan Baxter and Billy Chadwick.

Shota Arveladze made a number of changes for the midweek trip to Bradford, but the Tigers boss is expected to revert back to the side that started last weekend's goalless draw against Preston.

Summer signings Oscar Estupinan and Benjamin Tetteh will look to score their open their respective accounts for Hull when they form a forward partnership on Saturday.

As for Norwich, they made 10 changes in midweek, but could name a starting XI similar to the one that featured against Wigan Athletic last weekend.

Although, they will be unable to call upon Dimitris Giannoulis, Isaac Hayden and Sam Byram, who are all sidelined with injury issues.

There are also doubts over the availability of Jonathan Rowe and Adam Idah, who are yet to feature this season.

Hull City possible starting lineup:

Ingram; Jones, Greaves, Figueiredo; Coyle, Slater, Tufan Seri, Sayyadmanesh; Estupinan, Tetteh

Norwich City possible starting lineup:

Krul; Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, McCallum; Rashica, McLean, Sorensen, Nunez, Hernandez; Pukki

We say: Hull City 1-1 Norwich City

Although a much-changed team lost to Bradford in midweek, Hull will enter Saturday's contest in confident mood after collecting four points from their opening two games, and we think that they will continue their unbeaten start to the Championship season with a home draw against Norwich.
