Both aiming to build on victories at the weekend, Halifax Town and Woking will do battle at The Shay on Wednesday.
The visitors got their first win of the National League campaign in their sixth attempt last time out, while their hosts are three points better off in 13th spot.
Match preview
Halifax Town return to National League action on Wednesday in search of a second straight victory, having experienced a mixed start to their ninth consecutive campaign in England's fifth tier.
After a sixth-placed finish and quarter-final playoff exit last time around, they have picked up seven points from their first six outings of the 2025-26 term under the new management of Adam Lakeland, who took over from Chris Millington over the summer.
The Shaymen managed their first victory at the third time of asking away at Boston United after back-to-back defeats, but they failed to build on that, going on to lose 2-1 at home to Forest Green Rovers.
Then on the back of a creditable 1-1 draw away at Scunthorpe United, Lakeland's side hosted Yeovil Town on Saturday and prevailed in a 3-2 triumph, leading 1-0 and drawing back level at 2-2 through an Owen Bray brace before Will Harris netted the winner 11 minutes from time.
Having climbed up to 13th spot at this early stage of the campaign with that rebound win, Halifax Town will now bid to make it back-to-back three-point hauls on home turf on Wednesday and continue a rise towards the right end of the table.
In their way stand a visiting side also keen to make it consecutive victories on Wednesday after ending a winless start to the campaign last time out.
After climbing to a 15th-placed National League finish with a strong end to last season, Woking failed to pick up where they left off in the early stages of the new term, losing each of their first four outings and conceding 10 goals while only scoring twice along the way.
That culminated in a 3-0 beating away at Hartlepool United, before Neal Ardley's side picked up a first point at home to York City in a 1-1 draw having led at the interval through Aaron Drewe.
A trip to Morecambe then followed at the weekend, and the Cardinals were able to put a first notch in their wins column, as Jamie Andrews opened the scoring early in the second half and Sam Ashford sealed a 2-0 triumph in injury time.
Woking will now bid to build on their recent improvement and make it back-to-back wins and three games unbeaten in Wednesday's trip to The Shay.

Team News
Halifax Town should be unchanged from Saturday's home victory, with Owen Bray bound to play a key role going forward again having scored his first two goals of the season against Yeovil.
Bray and Jamie Cooke will support front man David Kawa, who has already managed two goals and two assists in six league appearances since a summer move from Aveley, despite competition from Will Harris who scored the decisive goal off the bench at the weekend.
Cody Johnson and Josh Hmami will both keep their places, having featured in every minute of The Shaymen's National League outings so far this season.
Woking could also be unaltered from their first win of the season last time out, although Sam Ashford has a claim to come in from the start having scored their second goal off the bench against Morecambe.
Captain Harry Beautyman remains an important part of their attacking unit, having netted a team-high tally of 10 goals last season.
Elsewhere, Jamie Andrews, who opened his account for the season last time out, should again be joined by Jack Turner and Tim Akinola.
Halifax Town possible starting lineup:
S Johnson; Hmami, Tarima, Alimi-Adetoro, Latty-Fairweather; C Johnson, Turner-Cooke; Bray, Hugill, Cooke; Kawa
Woking possible starting lineup:

We say: Halifax Town 2-1 Woking
