'We have to keep going': Mbappe insists PSG will not ease up after thumping win

Kylian Mbappe warned Paris St Germain were in no mood to take their foot off the pedal after his hat-trick helped blow Guingamp away in a 9-0 win on Saturday.

Edinson Cavani also struck three times against rock-bottom Guingamp, with Neymar (two) and Thomas Meunier also adding their names to the scoresheet.

The Ligue 1 leaders emphatically overturned their shock Coupe de la Ligue defeat at the hands of the same opponents 10 days ago.

"Now, we have to keep going," Mbappe said on the PSG website.

"We know we have quality, but that's not enough. We have to keep working, do what we do, because for the moment, we are in the thick of things. We must never take that sort of win lightly."

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel praised his side's "excellent performance", but there was still cause for concern for the German as midfielder Marco Verratti went off injured after 20 minutes.

"The injury to Marco is the negative point, it's serious," he said.

Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon highlighted the importance of making a statement after their shock cup loss.

He said: "In a game, it's normal to give your opponents one or two chances. And often when the scoreline is big, it finishes 9-1 or 9-2, the goalkeeper is angry. Nine-nil for me is perfect. It was a great show. We suffered with the loss to Guingamp in the cup last week and today we wanted to show that we are the strongest team in France."

The win was PSG's biggest at home in Ligue 1, surpassing the 8-0 victory they recorded over Dijon almost exactly a year ago.

They have already won 9-0 away from home, against Troyes in 2016, while their record win in all competitions is a 10-0 Coupe de France win over Cote-Chaude in 1994.

Guingamp manager Jocelyn Gourvennec said his side were thoroughly out-classed.

He added: "I felt like I was watching an under-19 team against a Ligue 1 team, it was too fast.

"Ten days ago we won here...and 10 days later we come back and we understand that we can be punished very quickly here.

"We knew they were stung and that these players wanted to put things back in place."
