RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner has withdrawn from the Germany squad to face Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan after suffering from health issues.
The forward encountered "breathing and circulation problems" during a Champions League fixture at Besiktas, seemingly due to the high noise levels in the stadium.
Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnick has admitted that the club are concerned about Werner and are seeking a diagnosis for his symptoms.
"It does not make sense to send him to the national team when the diagnoses are not finished," he told Kicker.
"Of course we are concerned, and we just need to see Timo get well again."
Germany approach their double header against Ireland and Azerbaijan at the top of World Cup qualifying Group C, needing only one point to seal their place in the finals.
