Half-Time Report: Germany, Ghana cancel each other out

Germany and Ghana cancel each other out and neither side have enough to earn a half-time lead in Fortaleza.

Germany have been held to a 0-0 half-time draw by Ghana in their World Cup Group G clash in Fortaleza this evening.

It was the African nation who managed to fashion the game's first attempt, as German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was forced to beat away Christian Atsu's well-struck shot on 13 minutes.

Joachim Low's side, who opened their campaign with a 4-0 thrashing of Portugal, soon found the type of fluency which saw them thump their Group G rivals.

Mesut Ozil found Sami Khedira in space on the edge of the area but his effort was comfortably saved by Fatau Dauda, while the Arsenal man menaced once more but Thomas Muller failed to connect with his teasing cross.

Despite losing their opening encounter of the campaign to USA, Ghana matched their German counterparts and Sulley Muntari forced Neuer to paw away his thumping effort as both sides cancelled each other out in the opening 45 minutes.
