The Champions League fixture between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain was ambitiously awaited by football fans all over the world. Having struggled under former coach Jose Mourinho, Manchester United has since turned 180 degrees, winning 10 out of their last 11 matches and drawing once, leaving new head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær with a record-breaking clean record up until this fixture.

Expectations were high among fans of the club who were of course incredibly pleased with their new coach's performance until then. Also Paris were suffering heavy deficits, missing not only their top star Neymar but also Cavani, who had gotten injured on Saturday before the match in a penalty shootout.

From the start of the game however, PSG showed more aggression and determination, dominating in possession and offensive actions. Manchester United worked hard to create several chances themselves, especially their star player Paul Pogba. It was a pretty rough match, resulting in five yellow cards during the first half, with the scoreline at 0-0 after 45 minutes had been played.

The standout player up until then, who would also end as man of the match, was the offensive Argentine wingman Angel Di Maria. His vision and dribbling skills are what ultimately gave PSG the lead in the 53rd Minute, where Di Maria's ball to the middle of the box found teammate Prestel Kimpembe, who simply booted it in for the 1-0 lead to PSG.

Manchester United seemed a bit in shock after conceding the first goal and PSG were quickly on the offensive side again.

Again it was Angel Di Maria finding World Cup winner Kylian M'bappe and setting him up beautifully inside the box, who safely netted it for the two-goal lead for PSG.

What followed were no more goals, but lots of fouls and tackles. Ultimately it was Manchester United's superstar Pogba getting the worst of it and being sent off after receiving a second yellow card - meaning he will miss an already expected to be hard 2nd leg fixture in Paris.

To most fans the result was unexpected, given the fact that Manchester United had a near-perfect record over their past 11 fixtures while PSG were missing two of their main men on the pitch.

Having a feeling for unexpected results like these can also net you very nice winnings, as odds on underdogs are mostly very attractive with most online bookmakers.

What to expect from upcoming fixtures?
The next fixtures in the Champions League are very attractive and hard to predict at the same time. We suggest giving each match a fair bit of consideration as most agree, in the Champions League everything is possible.
