Roberto Martinez open to signing Aaron Lennon to permanent deal

Roberto Martinez believes that Aaron Lennon's current form can earn him a permanent move to Everton this summer.

Roberto Martinez has suggested that there is a place at Everton for Aaron Lennon if the winger can continue to impress him over the final seven Premier League games.

Reports have suggested that it will cost the Toffees £6m to turn Lennon's loan from Tottenham Hotspur into a permanent deal, and Martinez believes that the 27-year-old is doing enough to secure a move to Goodison Park.

"What does he need to do? Keep playing the way he's playing," the Everton boss told reporters. "He's been a really impressive footballer. The way he's engaged with the other players has been quite impressive.

"The next seven games will be very important to see if he can carry on enjoying his football.

"Then like any loan situation it's a three way conversation. But it's not a decision we need to make now. The next seven games is an eternity in football."

Martinez takes on his former club when Everton meet Swansea City on Saturday.
