Everton defender Seamus Coleman relishing Memphis Depay, Anthony Martial tests

Coleman relishing Depay, Martial tests

Everton defender Seamus Coleman has admitted that he cannot wait to test himself against Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial when Manchester United come to town on Saturday.

The Red Devils attackers cost a combined a £61m in the summer, but winger Depay - who represents £25m of that bulk - has struggled for Premier League form, scoring once in eight outings.

In contrast, the French striker has earned plenty of praise for the way in which he has taken to English football after a £36m deadline-day move from AS Monaco, scoring four times in all competitions.

Nevertheless, the Toffees have only lost one Premier League game this season - a 2-0 home defeat by leaders Manchester City - and the Irish right-back says that a big effort is needed to preserve that tomorrow.

"They are obviously the new young crop of European talent. Martial has done brilliant in my opinion since he has come in and Depay has looked dangerous," he told Everton's official website.

"We have got to be on our guard to keep them out as well as Wayne Rooney, who as we know, has the ability to unlock a defence or score a goal at any time.

"But the squad has been confident going into the last couple of games. The lads are playing well and confidence is up. We are looking forward to Manchester United coming to Goodison."

Victory would see seventh-placed Everton move level on points with United in third.
