Everton's Ross Barkley disappointed with opening-day draw

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley believes that his side should have taken all three points from their opening-day clash against Watford.

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley has said that he and his teammates are disappointed to take only a point from their opening-day match against Watford.

The Hornets took the lead in the 14th minute through Miguel Layun, but Barkley pegged them back in the second half, but Odion Ighalo soon restored the visitors' lead.

However, Arouna Kone struck four minutes from time to earn Roberto Martinez's men a share of the spoils.

Barkley told BBC Sport: "We're disappointed not to get the three points. We showed character to twice come from behind. The manager told us at half time we had to be much better.

"I was disappointed with my goal tally last season. But to get a goal in first game of the season is pleasing. The result is more important though."

Everton are next in action against Southampton next week.
