Everton boss Sam Allardyce suggests that he will revert to defensive tactics after his side suffered four successive defeats in all competitions.

Everton boss Sam Allardyce has revealed that he intends to play more defensively in a bid to keep more clean sheets.

Upon his arrival, the Toffees were strong at the back and struggled for goals but after making alterations to his tactics, 10 goals have been conceded in four successive defeats.

Everton will be favourites to defeat West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon, but Allardyce has suggested that he will not use an attacking strategy against the Baggies.

The 63-year-old told talkSPORT: "We've still got a little bit to do to get away from being dragged back into the relegation zone. Adding a striker and attacking wide player will hopefully give us more goals.

"I've got to try and revert back to a more defensive structure with the team again and try to get those clean sheets that gave us so many wins when I first came here.

"We simplified the game which helped. Played a simple game to get the basics right and build the confidence back up again."

Before the four-game losing streak, Allardyce had led Everton for four wins and three draws from seven matches.
