Gareth Southgate to receive £250k bonus?

The Football Association has reportedly agreed to pay Gareth Southgate a £250,000 bonus should England confirm their place at next year's World Cup.

Last November, Southgate was handed a four-year contract to take charge of the Three Lions, with the former Under-21 boss said to be on a salary of £3m per year.

However, according to The Times, Southgate stands to earn an extra quarter-of-a-million pounds should England secure top spot in their qualification group in the coming days.

It has also been claimed that Southgate could earn an extra £1m if he fulfils certain criteria during his reign as national team manager.

Southgate has won five and drawn three of his 10 games in charge since replacing Sam Allardyce last year.

England host Slovenia at Wembley Stadium on Thursday night, before the team travel to Lithuania for Sunday's final qualifier.
