Roy Hodgson: 'Pressure is on Germany'

England manager Roy Hodgson believes that the pressure will be on Germany during tomorrow's friendly between the two sides.

England manager Roy Hodgson has expressed his belief that Germany's status as one of the best teams in Europe will put them under pressure going into tomorrow's friendly at Wembley.

Germany come into the match as the second best international side in the world according to the FIFA rankings, behind only reigning world and European champions Spain.

"We've got it all to do. They've got a lot to do as well, because, at the moment, I believe they and Spain are the two absolute favourites, out of the Europeans, to win the World Cup," PA quotes Hodgson as saying.

"There's pressure on them, maybe in a different way. Our pressure is to try to show we're a team. The pressure's off in the sense it's not a qualifying game, it's not a tournament game.

"It's a game where all the players are trying to show how good they are and what a good team they're playing for. That often makes for a very good game."

The match, which is part of the FA's 150th anniversary celebrations, will be the first meeting between the two teams since Germany's 4-1 win in the 2010 World Cup.
