Napoli came from behind twice to hold Empoli to a 2-2 draw in their Serie A match this afternoon.
Riccardo Saponara gave Empoli the perfect start when he was slipped beyond the defence by Manuel Pucciarelli, before guiding a composed finish into the corner past Pepe Reina.
However, Napoli hit back quickly and within four minutes they were level, as Lorenzo Insigne curled a strike from just outside the box into the top corner.
The teams weren't level for long as in the 18th minute Empoli regained their lead when Saponara drove to the byline and pulled the ball back for Pucciarelli to slot in from close range.
Insigne then threatened to score his second of the match when he was found unmarked at the back post from a free kick, but he saw his low drive kept out by Lukasz Skorupski.
Skorupski was called into action again moments later, as he rushed off his line to save at the feet of Manolo Gabbiadini.
Napoli went into the break trailing, but within five minutes of the second half they levelled the scores as Allan raced onto Gabbiadini's pass, before slotting an effort into the far corner.
Within minutes Massimo Maccarone had a chance to grab a third goal for the hosts, but he could only fire his strike from a tight angle into the side netting.
Napoli soon had two chances of their own to score, but Gonzalo Higuain dragged an effort across the face of goal and wide of the far post, before Marek Hamsik crashed a strike from the edge of the box narrowly off target.
Both teams searched for a late winner, and in the fifth minute of stoppage time Napoli almost found the net, but Hamsik's shot was saved by Skorupski and Jose Callejon could only turn the rebound against the post, as the Azzurri's search for a first league of the season continued.
