Crystal Palace chairman rules out Wilfried Zaha move abroad

Roy Hodgson reveals that Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish will categorically refuse to entertain a move abroad for Wilfried Zaha this summer.

Roy Hodgson has confirmed that Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish will not sanction a transfer abroad for Wilfried Zaha under any circumstances this month.

Everton had reportedly produced a bid of £60m for Zaha, with Arsenal also expressing an interest, but Palace refused to countenance the Ivorian's departure.

Zaha is said to have been left 'devastated' by being denied a move away, with the talismanic winger now considering a potential move abroad due to European transfer markets remaining open until the end of the month.

When asked by Sky Sports News if Zaha would definitely stay at Selhurst Park this month, Hodgson said: "Yes, he's staying. We're pleased about that because he is an important player for the club and we are looking forward to him doing this season, what he's done for the last two seasons.

"Everyone here has a good relationship with him. There's not a problem with that. His beef is with the chairman and owners of the club because he's wanted to leave and they haven't received the offer that they think is sufficient to allow him to leave.

"He has to come to terms with that, when you sign long-term contracts you are expected to honour them and we expect him to do that."

Palace had rejected several bids from Everton, which included the offering of players plus cash, but remained resolute in their determination to get £80m for their star player.

Zaha featured from the bench during Palace's Premier League opener against the Toffees, with the game ending 0-0.
