Chelsea struggling to sell £325,000-a-week outcast as 'nothing progressing' over late summer transfer

'Nothing progressing' - Chelsea struggling to offload £325k-a-week outcast

Chelsea are struggling to shift one of their unwanted Englishmen ahead of the closing of the summer transfer window, according to a fresh update.

The Blues' incomings are now thought to be complete following the loan arrival of Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton & Hove Albion, but the club remain active on the outgoings front approaching the 7pm deadline.

Raheem Sterling was among the unwanted crop of players expected to make the move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, but neither the player nor Chelsea have been presented with the right proposal just yet.

According to journalist Matt Law, "nothing is progressing" over a deal to either sell or loan out Sterling, who could very well still be a Chelsea player once the Premier League window has closed for business.

The 30-year-old was thought to have caught the eye of Fulham in recent hours, but the Cottagers are instead set to sign his teammate and fellow attacker Tyrique George in a £22m deal.

However, Chelsea could still offload Sterling to a non-English club after Monday's deadline passes, as the Turkish transfer window remains open until September 12.

Sterling - who is Chelsea's highest earner on £325,000-a-week according to Capology - still has two years left to run on his contract with the Club World Cup winners.
