Chelsea transfer news: Defender fail to secure transfer exit due to Nicolas Jackson's Bayern Munich move

Chelsea player fail to secure Monaco move due to Bayern transfer

Chelsea defender Axel Disasi failed to secure a move to AS Monaco on Monday's transfer deadline day, reportedly due to Nicolas Jackson.

The 27-year-old has become surplus to requirements under Enzo Maresca and has not featured in any matchday squads for the Blues so far this season.

The defender was heavily linked with a move to Bournemouth, while London rivals West Ham United also reportedly showed keen interest in signing him

Towards the end of the window, the Frenchman was linked with a move back to his old club, Monaco, but the deal fell through after Bayern Munich completed the signing of Jackson on loan.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Jackson's move to the German champions has sealed Chelsea's international loan quota, which means the player will stay at Stamford Bridge for the 2025-26 campaign.

Jackson's move blocked Disasi's departure

Disasi is part of the Chelsea 'bomb squad', and Maresca has no intention of integrating him into the side.

Despite making 61 appearances for the Blues and scoring five goals, he is stuck in a limbo. The defender spent the second half of last season at Aston Villa on loan, where he played 10 matches, including three times in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Jackson landed for a medical in Munich last week after a deal was agreed, but Chelsea pulled the plug following an injury to Liam Delap.

However, on Monday, talks reopened and Bayern secured the signing of the Senegalese striker on loan, with an obligation to buy him permanently next summer if he plays a certain number of matches.

Tough luck for Disasi

Chelsea sold Christopher Nkunku to AC Milan, while Joao Felix, Renato Veiga, and Carney Chukwuemeka moved to Al-Nassr, Villarreal, and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.

After Jackson moved to Bayern, Disasi could not move to his former club, and at the same time, no concrete offer came from Premier League clubs to him late in the window.

Along with Disasi, Raheem Sterling remains another out-of-favour player who has failed to move away from Chelsea this summer.
