Mourinho vows to help Torres

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has claimed that he knows how to get the best out of Fernando Torres.

The Spanish striker has netted 15 Premier League goals since joining the club from Liverpool for £50m in 2011.

The 29-year-old's indifferent form has seen him linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, but Mourinho insists that he still has plenty to give.

"I know his best qualities, and the best way for a team to play to try to get the best out of him," the Portuguese is quoted as saying by Goal.com

"He's a striker, more comfortable when he has space behind for those runs to get behind defenders. When Chelsea play with that philosophy he can [rediscover his best form]. When we play against a very close team and you have to play him in small spaces, he will have more difficulty."

Chelsea start the new season at home to Hull City on August 18.
