Chelsea outclass Leeds to reach semis

Chelsea have reached the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup thanks to a 5-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road.

The Blues found themselves behind at the break, but goals from Juan Mata, Branislav Ivanovic, Victor Moses, Eden Hazard and Fernando Torres turned the tie around.

After a feisty start, the visitors took the lead in the 36th minute when Luciano Becchio converted Jerome Thomas's cross following a mistake by David Luiz.

Leeds goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown was in inspired form during the first half and he made sure that his side went in ahead at the break with saves from Mata and Frank Lampard.

However, he was beaten two minutes after the restart as Mata's effort squirmed under the shotstopper's hand.

Chelsea were soon in the ascendancy and they went in front just after the hour as Ivanovic took advantage of some poor marking to head in from Lampard's corner.

The result was put beyond doubt minutes later when Moses drilled the ball past Ashdown from 20 yards.

Substitute Eden Hazard kept a cool head to make it 4-1 with 10 minutes left to play before Torres tapped in to complete the rout.
