Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Slavia Prague

Chelsea injury, suspension list vs. Slavia Prague

Chelsea switch their attentions back to the Europa League on Thursday night, just three days after boosting their top-four hopes with victory over West Ham United in the Premier League.

An Eden Hazard-inspired London derby win lifted the Blues up to third place in the Premier League table, albeit having played a game more than the other three teams battling for the two remaining Champions League spots.

The quick turnaround in fixtures is sure to force rotation from Maurizio Sarri, but he will also know that the Europa League provides another potential route into next season's Champions League and will therefore be wary of making too many changes.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Thursday's quarter-final showdown with Slavia Prague.

CHELSEA'S INJURY LIST

Marcos Alonso

Status: Slight doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: April 11 (vs. Slavia Prague)

Sarri initially suggested that Marcos Alonso would only need "three or four days" of rest to recover from a slight hamstring strain, but the Spaniard has now missed the last two games due to the problem. Alonso is expected to be in contention on Thursday night, though.

Ethan Ampadu

Status: Out Type of injury: Back Possible return date: Unknown

Three of Ethan Ampadu's five matches this season have come in the Europa League, but he will not be adding to that tally this week as he is currently sidelined by a back injury.

Marco van Ginkel

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Marco van Ginkel has not played for Chelsea since 2013 and is unlikely to ever do so again. Having spent most of his Blues career out on loan, the midfielder is currently sidelined by a serious knee injury.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players suspended for this game, but Ross Barkley would miss the second leg if he picks up a booking.
