Celtic boss Ronny Deila frustrated by late Malmo goal in Champions League playoff

Deila frustrated by late Malmo goal

Celtic boss Ronny Deila has admitted that he was "disappointed" to concede in the dying seconds of the game in his side's 3-2 win over Malmo in the first leg of their Champions League playoff.

The Bhoys raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half through strikes from Leigh Griffiths and Nir Bitton, but former player Jo Inge Berget brought the visitors back into the match in the second half.

Griffiths notched his second goal of the night to restore his side's two-goal advantage, which looked to be secure for the second leg, but Berget haunted his old club again by scoring in the 95th minute.

Deila told reporters: "You get disappointed when you concede in the last second but it happened. We're one goal ahead and they have to beat us in Malmo. It could be better but it's an okay result.

"We should have cleared the second one but we scored three goals as well so that's the positive thing. We are very irritated with the last thing but we have to move on and know that we are ahead and we'll do it in Malmo.

"We can win. We can beat Malmo but they have to attack us so that could suit us. We are ahead by one goal and we were the same against Qarabag and we defended there. We can do that."

The second leg takes place in Malmo next Tuesday.
