Roberto Carlos announces retirement plans

Roberto Carlos reveals that he intends to retire from football at the end of the season.

Full-back Roberto Carlos has confirmed that he will retire from football at the end of the season.

The 38-year-old, who currently plays for Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala, has revealed that he made the decision because he has nothing left to achieve in the game.

"I am not going because I am injured," said the defender. "But I am going because my sporting career is already complete. I have been with Palmeiras, Inter, Real Madrid.

"I have lived everything I had to live as a player."

Carlos was part of the Brazil squad that won the World Cup in 2002.
