Diego Rolan brace caps Bordeaux stadium farewell with Nantes win

Bordeaux's final game at the Stade Chaban Delmas sees them beat rivals Nantes 2-1.

Bordeaux won their final Ligue 1 game at the Stade Chaban Delmas by seeing off Nantes 2-1 in the Derby de l'Atlantique.

Two goals from Uruguayan forward Diego Rolan helped the hosts seal three points as they continue their bid for place in Europe next season.

They almost made a perfect start when Swedish forward Issac Thelin brought an early stop out of Remy Riou.

The home fans provided plenty of noise to try to inspire Willy Sagnol's side to victory, but they nearly fell behind when Valentin Rongier, on his first start for the Canaries, fizzed a shot that Cedric Carrasso needed to palm away.

Soon after, Nantes were given another chance to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty after Mariano was adjudged to have brought down Ismael Bangoura.

After being made to retake the spot kick, Jordan Veretout slotted home to give the visitors the advantage as they tried to keep their push for a top-half finish on course.

However, they were immediately pegged back as Bordeaux were awarded a penalty of their own. Oswaldo Vizcarrondo was deemed to have handled the ball after a header from Jaroslav Plasil and Rolan duly tucked home the penalty to the delight of the very vocal home support.

Wahbi Khazri thought that he had given Les Girondins the lead on 64 minutes when his rocket of a shot flew off the crossbar, having left Riou stranded.

Bordeaux did find a second goal soon after as Rolan was allowed space to shoot and score his second of the evening.

Nantes tried to find a late equaliser as Johan Audel headed over, but Bordeaux were able to hold on for a derby victory that moves them within a point of fourth-placed Marseille.
