Willy Sagnol pleased despite laboured Bordeaux victory

Bordeaux manager Willy Sagnol has praised his side's determination despite their laboured victory over struggling Evian in Ligue 1 on Friday evening.

The result left Evian rooted to the bottom of the league table, after goals from Diego Rolan and Wahbi Khazri were enough earn Bordeaux victory despite a late strike from Yeltsin Tejeda.

"Tonight we won in trying circumstances and we won't always get this kind of result by playing the way we did," Sagnol told reporters after the contest.

"Still, even though we were a bit sloppy technically, the players showed great team spirit and fought hard until the end, which is what will keep our heads above water this season."

Friday's result now sees Bordeaux sitting in second position in the Ligue 1 standings.
