Jordan Rhodes: 'I feared broken ankle'

Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes reveals that he thought he had broken his ankle while on international duty with Scotland last week.

Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes has recalled the moment he thought that he had suffered a serious ankle injury on international duty with Scotland.

Rhodes was forced to return to Ewood Park for treatment ahead of Scotland's friendly with the USA, and he has admitted that he feels fortunate not to be spending a lengthy period on the sidelines.

The 23-year-old told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I thought at the time that I'd cracked a bone. Luckily enough, the things afterwards have proved otherwise and hopefully I'm on the mend now.

"The ball was miles away and I was waiting for it to be crossed in. I peeled around the back of Grant Hanley and I went over on my ankle. A couple of steps afterwards, I really started to feel the pain.

"Injuries are part and parcel of football and life. It's not the first and it won't be the last. You just continue to do the best that you can. I'll try to live my life the best that I can from now until I get fit, and I'll try to get myself out on the field as soon as possible."

The former Huddersfield Town attacker could feature when Blackburn face Reading on Saturday.
