Birmingham City skipper Curtis Davies hands his side a half-time lead over Blackpool in their clash at St Andrew's.

Birmingham City hold a half-time lead over Blackpool at St Andrew's thanks to a goal from skipper Curtis Davies.

The visitors started strongly and could have been ahead after five minutes when Gary Taylor-Fletcher teed up Thomas Ince but the latter's shot went the wrong side of the post.

Birmingham were grateful to defender Mitch Hancox who made a great last-ditch tackle to stop Ince in his tracks as he looked to latch onto Matt Phillips's through-ball.

Ince was in the action moments later as he lifted the ball over Jack Butland but defender Davies was there to clear the ball off the line at the last second.

Despite Blackpool's dominance, it was the hosts who took the lead as Davies headed home from a left-wing cross from Shane Ferguson on the stroke of half time.
