How Bayern Munich could line up against Union Berlin

Sports Mole looks at how Bayern Munich could line up in Sunday's Bundesliga clash with Union Berlin.

Reigning champions and current pacesetters Bayern Munich return to Bundesliga action on Sunday with a trip to Union Berlin.

Hansi Flick's side were in fine form prior to the two-month break, which was brought about as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The German top flight will become the first major league in the world to resume this weekend, and Bayern will be aiming to move another step closer to an eighth title in a row.

Bayern saw off Augsburg 2-0 in their most recent game to make it six wins in a row in all competitions, but that game was more than two months ago and a lot has changed since then.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the Bavarian giants could line up against Union.

Possible BMU XI vs. UNB

Out: Philippe Coutinho (ankle), Corentin Tolisso (ankle), Niklas Sule (knee)

The two-month break may have come at an unwelcome time for Bayern, but it has at least given the division's top scorer Robert Lewandowski a chance to fully recover from a knee injury.

However, Philippe Coutinho and Corentin Tolisso have recently undergone ankle surgery and are in a race against time to feature again this season.

Defender Niklas Sule is Bayern's only other confirmed absentee, but he may play again in the coming weeks after upping his recovery from a long-term knee injury layoff.

Kingsley Coman is back in Flick's thoughts after shaking off a problem of his own, and the Frenchman is expected to get the nod on the left of a four-man attack spearheaded by Lewandowski.
