Bastian Schweinsteiger is determined to make history with Bayern Munich by ensuring that they become the first team to retain the Champions League.
No team has won the tournament in consecutive years since it changed to its current format in 1992.
The Bavarians, who beat Borussia Dortmund in the final last season, hold a 2-0 lead over Arsenal following the first leg of their last-16 tie, and Schweinsteiger wants them to conquer Europe yet again.
"I want to help Bayern retain the Champions League title," he told the club's official website. "No other team has managed that and that's pure motivation for me."
Schweinsteiger, 29, played for the first time since November in Bayern's 4-0 Bundesliga victory over Hannover on Sunday, after recovering from ankle surgery.
