James Rodriguez double gives Monaco victory

A brace from James Rodriguez gives Monaco all three points in their Ligue 1 clash against Bastia this evening.

A brace from James Rodriguez has given Monaco the win in their Ligue 1 clash against Bastia this evening.

Djibril Cisse and Yannick Cahuzac looked dangerous for the hosts early on, with the former forcing a good block with an effort just two minutes into the match.

Joao Moutinho and Emmanuel Riviere were then guilty of missing good chances for the visitors as they cranked up the pressure.

Rodriguez put Monaco in front just before half time with a free kick from the edge of the box that was placed right into the bottom corner.

Geoffrey Kondogbia came close to doubling Monaco's lead after the restart, but his attempt was well blocked by the Bastia defence.

Monaco were rewarded for their patience when Rodriguez eventually got his second 15 minutes from time following a quick break.

Bastia had chances to get back in the game, but they could not finish their chances.
