Barcelona to appeal against transfer ban

Barcelona confirm that they will appeal against the 14-month transfer ban imposed on the club by FIFA.

La Liga club Barcelona have confirmed that they will appeal against the 14-month transfer ban imposed on them by FIFA.

The Blaugrana are deemed to have breached rules relating to the "international transfers of non-Spanish minors", according to a statement from the game's governing body.

In a club statement released earlier this evening, Barca confirmed: "FCB will present the corresponding appeal to FIFA and if necessary will submit the resulting resolution to the Court of Arbitration for Sport."

The Camp Nou outfit added that they would take "appropriate precautionary measures to preserve the rights of the club".

Unless the appeal is successful, the ban will be in force until the summer of 2015, covering two transfer windows.
