Barcelona forward Sergio Aguero plays down rumours that he could be forced into an early retirement due to his heart issue.

Barcelona forward Sergio Aguero has played down rumours that he could be forced into an early retirement due to his heart problem.

The 33-year-old has been ruled out of action for at least three months after suffering with chest pains during his team's La Liga clash with Alaves at the end of October.

A recent report claimed that Aguero's condition was more serious than first feared, and he could be forced to hang up his boots due to concerns over his long-term health.

However, taking to social media on Friday, the Argentina international insisted that the plan is to still undergo tests and treatment over the next 90 days before a final decision is made.

"Given the rumours, I tell them that I am following the indications of the club's doctors, doing tests and treatment and seeing my progress within 90 days. Always positive," Aguero wrote on Twitter.

Aguero has only made five appearances for Barcelona since his arrival, having been forced to miss the early weeks of the 2021-22 campaign due to a calf problem.
