Australia defender Trent Sainsbury keen on transfer to Europe

Australia defender Trent Sainsbury has indicated that he is keen to secure a transfer to Europe after the World Cup.

On Saturday, Sainsbury - who is currently contracted to Chinese Super League team Jiangsu Suning - played the full 90 minutes as Australia succumbed to a narrow 2-1 defeat to France at the World Cup.

Agent Tony Rallis has revealed that he took calls regarding the player during that match, and Sainsbury has acknowledged that he is looking to test himself in a high-profile league as soon as possible.

The centre-back is quoted by Stuff.co.nz as saying: "I always believed in my abilities and I'm happy to take on the best players in the world."

Sainsbury - whose contract with Jiangsu expires in December - has recently spent loan spells at Inter Milan and Grasshoppers Zurich but featured on just 10 occasions.
