Aston Villa are ready to make a bid for Barnsley captain Jacob Butterfield.
The Championship side are expecting a number of offers for the 23-year-old in the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.
Villa boss Alex McLeish recently said that the funds were there for new additions to the squad.
Butterfield signed his first professional contract with the Oakwell club in 2007.
