Aston Villa's Philippe Senderos looking forward to new season

Philippe Senderos admits that he cannot wait to begin the new Premier League season with Aston Villa.

Aston Villa defender Philippe Senderos has admitted that he cannot wait for the new Premier League season to begin.

The 29-year-old moved to Villa Park from Valencia on a free transfer at the beginning of June.

Senderos has linked up with his new teammates for their pre-season tour of America, after an extended break following his exploits with Switzerland at the World Cup.

"It feels great to have joined up and I'm genuinely looking forward to the challenge ahead," Senderos told Villa's official website. "I've had a break following the World Cup, which was fantastic to be involved in, and I'm really excited about the season ahead.

"Being out here in the United States will definitely benefit us as a group and it will be an opportunity for myself and the two other players who have just come to Villa, Joe Cole and Kieran Richardson, to get to know our teammates much better.

"The climate will be warm and conditions perfect for training and the competition from the two MLS teams we're playing will be really good as they're in the middle of their season."

Senderos has also played for Arsenal and Fulham during his career.
