David Seaman: 'Arsenal still in title race'

Seaman: 'Arsenal still in title race'

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has played down his side's poor form and insisted that they remain very much in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners have lost three matches on the bounce in all competitions, including two in a row in the league following Wednesday's 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Swansea City.

That saw them slip six points behind leaders Leicester City, although both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City also lost, and Seaman believes that a return to winning ways in Saturday's North London derby will repair the damage done by recent results.

"All that happened this week was that we lost one extra point to Leicester. We had a bad result; luckily everyone around us got beat so we didn't lose too much ground," he is quoted as saying by PA.

"Losing three on the trot is not the best, but what better way to get your confidence up than by going to White Hart Lane and beating Tottenham? Forget what's gone on, focus on Saturday and a chance of gaining points on the teams above you.

"Their confidence is low, it will be low, but what a great opportunity on Saturday against Spurs."

The Gunners have not fallen to three consecutive league defeats for more than four years.
