Danny Welbeck close to return ahead of Tottenham Hotspur trip

Danny Welbeck returns to full training with his Arsenal teammates ahead of Saturday's meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck has put himself in contention for the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur after returning to training.

The England international has missed the last month with a thigh injury, but the Gunners have excelled in his absence, winning their last five games in all competitions.

However, Welbeck could be set for a spot on the bench at White Hart Lane on Saturday as Arsene Wenger's side look to climb into the Premier League's top four.

Alexis Sanchez is also expected to return after missing Sunday's 5-0 thrashing of Aston Villa with a thigh problem of his own.
