Allegri: 'Milan have to do more'

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has insisted that the Rossoneri must show more in Serie A after a dismal start to the campaign and has urged his troops to focus on tomorrow night's crunch Champions League clash with Celtic.

Allegri's position has come under severe scrutiny in recent weeks, with Milan failing to win any of their last five games in Serie A and recording just three victories in 13 attempts, leaving themselves languishing well off the pace in mid-table.

The Champions League represents a welcome distraction, though, with Allegri asking his struggling team to be prepared for an aggressive Celtic side as they could in search of a victory that would put them within touching distance of the last 16.

He told reporters at a pre-match press conference: "Tomorrow evening is an important game for us, it'll be a tough game as they're at home and they play well here, very aggressive.

"It'll be a great evening and should be faced with real tactical attentiveness and trying to play technically good football. We have to separate the league from the Champions League. We have to get a result tomorrow as the second objective of the season is to get into the last 16 stage of the competition. The first objective was to qualify.

"We have to do more as what we've done so far in the league is not enough. The team shouldn't be thinking about what happens outside the changing room. We have to do everything we can to do better and to do that, we need to have the fans with us."

Milan fans formed a blockade at the San Siro last weekend in protest at a lacklustre 1-1 home draw with Genoa.
