Fencing's 'old man' Ivan Trevejo aims for Rio Olympics after Baku gold

Fencing's 'old man' revels in Baku gold

French fencer Ivan Trevejo has his eye on the Olympic squad for the Rio 2016 Olympics after victory at the European Games.

The 43-year-old took gold in the men's individual epee yesterday after beating Russia's Sergey Khodos in the final.

"I'm the oldest in the competition and I gave the youngsters a lesson today, so hopefully I can continue in this dynamic way," Trevejo told reporters.

"My goal is Rio. I know that it is going to be difficult because there are only four places in the team and we have so many strong fencers."

Cuban-born Trevejo will be in action once more on Saturday, when France take part in the team epee competition.
