Van Gerwen, Lewis to meet in semis

Michael van Gerwen and Adrian Lewis have both come through their quarter-final matches at the PDC World Championship to set up a last-four showdown on Monday night.

Van Gerwen looked in control of his match with Welshman Mark Webster, averaging around the 105-mark in opening up a 4-1 advantage over the left-hander.

However, the former Lakeside winner had the Dutchman on the ropes after winning two sets in a row, before Van Gerwen responded in the eighth to secure a 5-3 triumph.

Lewis was not at his best against opponent James Wade, but the two-time world champion recorded a comfortable 5-1 success against the six-time Major winner.

The Stoke-on-Trent thrower eased into a 3-0 advantage, and although Wade took the fourth, the 28-year-old was always in control as he looks to win a third world crown in four years.
