Phil Taylor earns second win in Premier League

Phil Taylor keeps his hopes of avoiding relegation from the Premier League alive with a 7-5 victory over Dave Chisnall in Nottingham.

Phil Taylor has earned his second victory of the 2014 Premier League campaign with a 7-5 win over Dave Chisnall.

The 16-time world champion went into the contest two points adrift of safety, but Taylor produced an improved performance against the St Helens thrower, although he would have been disappointed to miss 22 darts at a double.

Peter Wright remained unbeaten at the top of the standings after he averaged in excess of 100 in recording a 7-3 victory over Simon Whitlock.

Michael van Gerwen remains just a point behind the PDC World Championship runner-up after he thrashed Wes Newton 7-1, who was making his return after a bout of tonsillitis.

Adrian Lewis followed up his UK Open triumph with a 7-5 success over Gary Anderson, but the Scot missed darts in the final leg to secure a point.

Anderson's countryman Robert Thornton also missed vital darts against Raymond van Barneveld, with two chances going astray to allow the Dutchman to earn a 6-6 draw.
