Phil Taylor wins UK Open

Phil Taylor has secured his fifth UK Open title by beating Andy Hamilton in Sunday's final at the Reebok Stadium.

The 16-time world champion averaged over 105 and checked out scores of 121 and 167 as he defeated his fellow Stoke-on-Trent thrower 11-4.

Taylor had earlier defeated Michael van Gerwen and Peter Wright to reach the last two, while Hamilton's route to the final included wins over James Wade and Raymond van Barneveld, who missed four match darts.

The Power receives £40,000 in prize money for his triumph, while runner-up Hamilton picks up £20,000.

Taylor dedicated the victory to his grandson, who underwent an operation earlier this month.
