Alan Norris knocks out defending BDO champion Scott Waites at Lakeside

Defending champion Scott Waites has been knocked out of the BDO World Darts Championship in the first round.

The 36-year-old Yorkshireman was beaten 3-0 at Lakeside by two-time French Open winner Alan Norris, who recorded a three-dart average of 93.27.

Waites averaged 87.54 and hit the game's highest finish of 112.

However, Norris stole the show with consecutive bullseye finishes in the final two legs of the match, taking out 81 and then 85.
