Gary Anderson beats Adrian Lewis to win Players Championship Finals

Gary Anderson wins the Players Championship Finals with an 11-6 victory over Adrian Lewis.

Gary Anderson has won the 2014 Players Championship Finals with an 11-6 victory over Adrian Lewis in Minehead.

The world number six, who beat Phil Taylor in the quarter-finals earlier on Sunday, averaged over 101 to pick up his first televised ranking title in the PDC.

Anderson, who was seeded first for the event, let slip an early advantage to fall 4-3 behind but the Scot won six of the last eight legs to open up an 9-6 advantage and move two away from victory.

After taking the 16th leg, Anderson went on to dominate the 17th and secured his triumph with a 118 checkout on double 19.

The success over Lewis completed a impressive run of victories for Anderson after he had overcome Christian Kist, Stephen Bunting, Taylor and Vincent van der Voort to reach the final.
