Dimitri van den Bergh wins Week 16 of the Premier League in Aberdeen on a night when Jonny Clayton also qualified for next week's playoffs.

Dimitri van den Bergh has prevailed on the final week of the regular Premier League season in Aberdeen.

The Belgian has endured a dismal campaign, his appearance in the final in the North of Scotland just his second of the entire 16 weeks.

Nevertheless, Van den Bergh was able to edge out Gerwyn Price by a 6-5 scoreline, defying match darts for his opponent to secure a win which saw him finish in sixth position in the table.

Earlier in the night, Jonny Clayton secured his place in the playoffs courtesy of Nathan Aspinall failing to reach the final.

While Aspinall averaged in excess of 103 to record a 6-1 victory over Clayton, he succumbed to a equally one-sided scoreline to Price, going down 6-2.

There was also drama surrounding Michael van Gerwen who was forced to withdraw from his last-four clash with Van den Bergh due to a shoulder injury.

The Dutchman showed discomfort during his 6-2 quarter-final win over Chris Dobey and subsequently decided against facing the Belgian in order to give himself the best possible chance of being fit for the playoffs.

Peter Wright finishes at the bottom of the table after losing 6-2 to Price - who tops the standings - in the opening match of the evening.

In next week's playoffs in London, Price will square off against Welsh compatriot Clayton while Smith - who lost to Van den Bergh on Thursday - is scheduled to meet Van Gerwen.
