Phil Taylor beats James Wade in thriller to win £100,000 jackpot

Phil Taylor saw off the challenge of a determined James Wade to win the World Matchplay title and a massive £100,000 prize.

In a evenly-matched final Wade fought back from 15-11 down to come within a leg of 'The Power' in a race to reach 18.

The 15-time World Champion was able to call on all his experience of finals to pull away when it mattered.

Taylor finished the match in style, producing a 10-dart-leg to take the match 18-5 and with it the huge £100,000 first prize.

The tournament was Taylor's fifth straight win at the World Matchplay at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
