Dean Winstanley "over the moon" at nine-darter

Dean Winstanley has expressed his delight at hitting the first nine-dart finish of his professional career.

The 31-year-old threw the perfect leg during his second round clash with Vincent van der Voort at the PDC World Championship on Sunday.

Winstanley went on to lose the match 4-2, however his nine-darter earned him a £15,000 prize to cushion the blow.

"I'm distraught to have lost, but I've made a great impact and I'm proud of what I've done," Winstanley told Sky Sports News.

"I'm over the moon to have hit a nine-darter on TV, especially in the World Championship, and I've proved to everyone that I can mix it with the best."

Winstanley is currently 50th in the PDC order of merit.
